Mobbed by Him (An Alpha Billionaire Romance) Page 4

He laid down next to me and pulled me close to him. I caught his scent and it almost felt like home to me. Was I losing my mind? Was that what really good sex did to me? All reason had left the building for me. I had no idea what I was thinking or feeling anymore. I could smell him and his body was near me and full of warmth. I curled onto his chest and felt his heart beating underneath my head. He smelt like me and that made me smile. Surprisingly for a one night stand he still held me tight against him as if I had always had a place on his chest. I closed my eyes softly and before I knew it I had fallen asleep in his arms.

  Chapter Eight

  Damon

I got up early and slipped out of bed, careful not to wake Cadence as she slept. She looked so peaceful lying there with her hair all rumpled. Sex hair did the woman good. I slipped into some joggers and walked out of the bedroom. I headed to my office to check for any messages. I was now the leader of the organization and I needed to be aware of everything that was going on. I had to check to make sure that there was nothing urgent from the MOB that might need my immediate attention. I had been MIA since we had left the club last night. I hadn't even told my boys that I was leaving. My bodyguards had probably spent all night angrily looking for me. That's okay, they would learn that I didn't need a babysitter. If I chose to leave a club I didn't need to notify anyone. It was my life.

The company still needed to be my focus, however. It was a lot of responsibility on my shoulders. I was really going into this blind, not my choice of course, but there it was. I wasn't used to being a leader, especially of a billion dollar organization. My father never really included me in on anything since I was just in charge of the money. Now I had a world of responsibility that I wasn't used to and I was just holding my head above water. I couldn't fail at this or I would be proving my dad right and that was unthinkable. I had to always have my priorities straight no matter what. So getting up early instead of fucking that brunette again was more important. I didn't like it but such was life. I needed to prove to Gord that I was better than he thought I was.

I punched in my code and saw that I had some messages. There were some messages that were encrypted on my computer so that the government wouldn't be able to read them. We had to take all the precautions we could to make sure nothing got leaked to the FBI. That would be our undoing and it wasn't about to happen on my watch. I quickly read through the messages, noting that there wasn't anything immediate that I needed to attend to. I would have to call a meeting of the members shortly, but that could wait until later. I had some thinking to do about my next move and how the other members would handle the changes that I wanted to make within the organization. There was a good chance that I would meet with some opposition, but in the end I could not be overruled. There was no voting circle. If they didn't like my new plans they could be removed one way or another. I was confident, however, that the members would follow suit. My ideas were strong and it was time to start making important changes.

Just then Cadence walked into my office wearing nothing but my white button down shirt from the night before. I never let women wear any of my clothes, they weren't worth it, but fuck it, Cadence looked incredible in my shirt. I wanted to lift it up and fuck her all over again. Looking her up and down, I wondered if she was wearing any panties. Maybe I would have time to take another round out of her before she left for the day. She looked good enough to eat and I felt myself grow a little hard.

I slowly shut the lid of my laptop and she looked at me with an eyebrow raised. It was kind of a weird look but I had no reason to believe that she thought anything of what I was doing. It would look no different than me answering regular work emails.

“Well good morning, Cadence. Do you have work to get to or something? I can have a driver take you back to your home. Or to your car, whichever you prefer.”

“No, I just moved here, remember? I don't have a job yet, still looking.”

“Oh yes, that's right.” It struck me suddenly that she would be the perfect person to head my accounting department. She would be very easy to manipulate, she was easy on the eyes, and she would have no idea that most of the money she would be dealing with would be MOB money. She was actually the perfect person. I could mold her into whatever I wanted; she needed the job and she wouldn't ruffle any feathers. In fact, she would probably learn to love her job with the right encouragement.

“Believe it or not, Cadence, we actually have a position open in the company that I work for as a head accountant.”

“Are you serious, what are the chances?”

“Slim I'm sure, but there you have it.”

The company that I 'worked for' was just a front so that the money we brought through it could be explained. I had no intention of letting her know that the company she was working for was really a front for the MOB and the money she would be dealing with was dirty. I gave her an overview of what the company did to give her some idea of who she would be working for. I failed to mention that I was really a boss in the organization. She wouldn't even be able to tell that it wasn't a real company; we had everything in place to make it work like a real company.

  “So what do you think?”

“Are you kidding me? That would be so awesome. I have been doing so many interviews and nothing has come through yet. I would love to work for you, I could really use the money right now since I just moved.”

“Great. Just send me your credentials so that I can verify everything.” I wrote the company email address on a piece of paper and handed it to her.

A knock came to the door and I figured I should answer it without Cadence standing there in a shirt of mine. I was the boss alright but she really shouldn't be in my office at all. There were appearances that needed to be upheld.

“Go ahead and take a shower before you head home if you feel like it.”

She just nodded and walked off. She looked incredible walking away from me. Damn, why did someone have to show up just then? I wanted Cadence again but I should probably refrain from such things if she was going to work for me. Though it wouldn't be the first time I slept with someone that I worked with. It was just so easy to fuck girls who worked under me. They were easily manipulated and they really wanted to make me happy. Cadence would be no different, that's why I was happy that she was looking for a job right when I had a position to fill.

I was confident that this girl was exactly what I was looking for.

  Chapter Nine

  Cadence

Being in the shower I luxuriated underneath the water. The shower was huge — it could probably fit about ten people in it. A sex shower, that was exactly what it was, big enough to have sex in without any discomfort. I took the opportunity to wash up after my night of glorious sex and took my time feeling the warmth of the water running down my body. His shower was full of luxury shampoos and soap. It was obvious that all his women showered because there were both male and female products lining the shelves of the shower. Everything smelt so good that it was hard to want to leave the shower at all.

I couldn't believe all that had happened in the past 12 hours. It had been a crazy time for me, I was still trying to process it all. I wasn't sure how many mistakes I had made in the past 12 hours but it felt like a lot. All I had wanted to do was question Damon, and yet I had no answers and I was now in his shower. I thought that I was going to just go and ask Damon some questions without being too obvious that I wanted to know if his father was in the MOB. I also wanted to try and find out if he knew why or who had murdered my parents. Not easy questions to ask, but that had been my plan. That wasn't what happened, however; instead drinking too much had led me into the bed of one of the biggest womanizers that I knew. I wasn't sure that having sex with Damon was the best idea; it was a stupid thing for me to have done. Although it got me closer to him and landed me a job, I was still not closer to finding out anything about my parents. I needed to do better and to focus on my goals, since that was the reason I was in Hollywood in the first place.
I needed to remember why I was there.

Sex with Damon definitely had been a bad idea, but god dammit it had been the most amazing sex that I had ever had. It killed me to even think that, but it was true. He had romped me incredibly and I felt like I should write him a thank you note. The bastard was not even a decent human being and yet all I could think about was his hard cock and what it had done to me. I loved it so much that I wanted even more, but that would be a bad idea.

Now this job: the perfect position for me and yet he had just handed it to me like it was nothing. I had desperately needed the job and couldn't have been more grateful that he happened to have one for me. But it really made me wonder why he would hire me so easily. He didn't know me at all, and if he did he would probably run screaming in the other direction. Did he really hire girls on the fly without an interview? I knew he was part of the MOB, I was sure of it, so why hire a girl you knew nothing about? It didn't sound very careful to me.

I did like the sound of the job however, regardless of how it came my way. It would allow me to get close to the people that murdered my parents so it was a no-brainer to take it. I couldn't have asked for a better 'in.' He had almost made it too easy.

I left the shower and towelled off quickly. I dried my hair as best I could and combed it out. I returned to the bedroom and threw on my dress from the night before and headed out to the living room where I saw Damon speaking to an older woman.

They both had serious looks on their faces, so I knew that whatever they were talking about had to be of a serious nature as well. I wondered what they could possibly be talking about. MOB business? Just then the older woman looked over at me and glared. She actually gave me a real mean look and I wasn't sure what I should do. Walk away? I actually felt like running. Why would she glare at someone that she didn't even know? It was a weird reaction. Did she treat all Damon's women this way or was it just me she didn't like? Damon followed her gaze and smiled when he saw me. It wasn't a warm smile, more like an awkward one. Maybe I should have just tried to sneak away without them noticing. The woman was a little terrifying. But I assumed she used to be the head of a powerful family so I guess I shouldn't have expected a warm welcome. She probably thought that I was just another skank that he had brought home with him.

“Mother, this is Cadence. Cadence, this is my beautiful mother, Elizabeth.”

“Nice to meet you,” I said.

  “Mother, Cadence was just leaving.”

His mother stuck out her hand to shake mine and then at the last minute she asked, “What is your last name?”

  “Devons, ma'am.”

I was startled to see his mother’s eyes grow wide. “How did you two meet?”

“Oh, mother, we met at the club, it's no big deal. Anyways, I need to get going and you probably should as well.”

I found his mother to be very odd. I wondered what the deal was with her, especially when she had heard my last name. Why had she looked so shocked? It was as if she had recognized my name. But that was impossible, wasn't it? A chill ran up my spine when I thought about the possibility that his mother may know more about the MOB than I had realized. Would she know about the murder of my parents, and if so, was I now in danger?

  Chapter Ten

  Damon

A few days had passed since my night with Cadence and I was back at the company. It was just a front, but I had to make time there as if it was a real company. I smiled every time I went there, however, because it was amusing that we were able to hide what the MOB was doing with the company. We were doing lots as well: selling drugs, running prostitutes, plus we controlled a lot of the drugs and guns that went out on the streets of L.A. and the surrounding area. We did a lot of bad in Hollywood and I liked every bit of it. We were a powerful family and it took a brave group to come up against us. I couldn't believe how amazing it was that I had become the head of the MOB in a short period of time.

I was sitting in the office that used to be my father’s. It was a powerful feeling sitting in his chair, doing the business he used to handle on a daily basis. I was proud of all that I had already achieved in the short time that I had become boss. It was a head trip being the leader of a strong and powerful MOB. It was everything that I could have ever dreamed of and it had literally just fallen into my hands. I couldn't wait to exert my authority all over the damn place. People were about to hear a new roar all over town. That was definitely my intention, to bring the family further than it had ever been. My father had no idea who he had been smothering. I was about to bring a hailstorm to anyone that got in my way.

I looked up as my mother came in and started talking immediately. She barely had a chance to say hi before she came in chattering. I almost laughed but she would probably slap me. She had been as powerful as my father when she had stood by his side. She was a force to be reckoned with and had been a great match for my father. I loved watching her in action; if you didn't know her you would find her incredibly scary.

“Damon, it's very important that you find someone to fill your position immediately. I know you never felt that it was an important position but it is and someone needs to be handling the money as soon as possible. You need to get through most of the interviews today for the head accountant position. There needs to be someone watching the money coming in and out. You know we need to make as much money as possible and make sure that it is hidden from the government. No one needs to know that it's MOB money, I can't stress this enough to you.”

She just railed off the speech without barely breathing and I hadn't even had a chance to get a word in edgewise. When she wanted something she usually got it. I admired her not only as a mother but a strong woman as well. If I ever married I wanted to have a woman in my life that was as strong as she was. To be in the business I was in you needed to have a strong force by your side; that's why my dad had been so lucky.

I smiled at her. She was a tough broad but I loved her dearly. I never understood how a bastard like my father had won over such an amazing woman as my mother.

“I am well aware that the position needs to be filled. I'm on it.”

“You need to find someone who we can easily manipulate for obvious reasons. We don't need someone turning us into the government. Please choose someone young and impressionable. And of course for the first little while you will need to check over the accounting to make sure everything matches up. It's important Damon.”

“Mom, please, you are getting carried away. I have it under control.”

  “Do you now?”

“Look mom, it's not going to be a problem, any of that. I have already hired someone so you don't need to worry about it anymore.”

  “Who did you hire, Damon?”

“Cadence, you know, the girl you met the other morning when you stopped over at the house.”

She looked surprised when I mentioned Cadence and I wondered why. “Oh my, I didn't even know she was an accountant.”

“She just moved into town and she was looking for a job, so it turned out perfectly.”

She just nodded slowly. “I think you need to be very careful with that girl, Damon. Watch her closely.”

My brow furrowed. What an odd thing for her to say. She didn't even know Cadence, why would she say something like that? I was confused as to why there would be a problem. My mother never seemed to have an issue with any of the other girls I had brought around, so why would she have any issue with Cadence? It didn't make any sense to me.

“Mother what are you talking about? Why don't you like Cadence?”

“Just trust me, I have a bad feeling about the girl.”

I looked at her closely. It occurred to me that she was hiding something from me. What was it? She knew something that she wasn't willing to tell me right then. Why would she keep something from me? She was nothing like my father so I didn't think it would be because she didn't trust me. I was about to push the issue when she turned on her heel and said her goodbyes as she went out the door. Now that was wei
rd. I would have to corner her in the near future and force her to tell me what was wrong with Cadence. If she knew something I would make her tell me.

I leaned back in my chair and pondered what my next move as the head of the MOB would be. I was about to turn this city on its heels.
